A hotel price tracker is a tool that keeps checking your hotel's rate after you've already booked, and alerts you if it drops. What a hotel price tracker actually checks
Every price check includes
- The live going rate for your hotel and dates
- Whether the lower-priced option includes free cancellation
- Savings amount and percentage compared to your original price
- We only alert you when the saving is at least 5% of what you paid
How rebooking works
When you get a price drop alert: cancel your original booking (assuming it's refundable) and rebook at the lower price through the link in the alert email. Takes a few minutes. Rate Ranger includes an "I've rebooked" button in the alert so we know to stop monitoring that booking. If you want, submit your new booking details on our website and we'll track the new booking too.
Do you need an app to track hotel prices?
No. An app has to be installed and opened; a price tracker only has to remember your booking and email you when the rate moves. Rate Ranger runs on our side: you enter the booking once, on this page, and every later contact is an email. Nothing to install, no account to keep, and it works with any hotel booking site.
Does Google Hotels alert you when your price drops?
Google Hotels can alert you to a hotel's price change, but not to whether the new rate beats what you already paid. Since April 2026, signed-in Google users can search for a specific hotel and switch on tracking for their dates, then get an email whenever that rate moves, up or down, compared to what Google last saw rather than compared to their booking. You also have to go back and set the toggle yourself, for that one hotel, every time you want it watched, and it requires a Google account.
Rate Ranger works the other way around: enter the hotel, dates, and the price you already paid once, and every later check is measured against that number.
