1. What We Collect
When you forward a hotel booking confirmation to watch@rateranger.io, we collect:
- Your email address — so we can send you price alerts and booking confirmations.
- Booking details — hotel name, address, city, country, check-in/check-out dates, room type, price, currency, confirmation number, cancellation policy, and guest name (if included in the email).
We do not require you to create an account. Your email address is your identifier.
2. How We Use Your Data
- Price monitoring: We use your booking details to search for lower prices across publicly available hotel booking websites.
- Email notifications: We send you price drop alerts, booking confirmations, and cancellation deadline reminders.
- Service improvement: We may use aggregated, anonymized data to improve our parsing accuracy and service reliability.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.
3. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate Rate Ranger:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — email reception (SES), compute (Lambda), and storage (S3). Data is processed in the US East (N. Virginia) region.
- Supabase — database hosting for booking records and user data.
- Resend — outbound email delivery.
- SerpAPI — hotel price lookups via search engine results. We send your hotel name, city, and dates to SerpAPI to retrieve current prices. No personal information (email, name) is shared.
- Travelpayouts — affiliate link generation. When we include rebooking links in price drop alerts, these are affiliate links. Travelpayouts may set cookies when you click these links.
4. Data Retention
- Active bookings are retained while being monitored and for 30 days after check-out.
- Price check history is retained for 90 days.
- Your email address is retained as long as you have active or recent bookings.
5. Your Rights
- Unsubscribe: Every email includes an unsubscribe link that stops monitoring for that specific booking.
- Data deletion: Email hello@rateranger.io to request deletion of all your data. We will process your request within 30 days.
- Data export: Email hello@rateranger.io to request a copy of the data we hold about you.
6. Cookies
This website does not use cookies. However, third-party affiliate links (Travelpayouts) may set cookies when clicked.
7. Security
We use encryption in transit (TLS) for all data transfers. Database access is restricted by row-level security policies. API keys and credentials are stored in environment variables, not in source code.
8. Children
Rate Ranger is not intended for use by individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email to active users.
